Kevin Durant has been out of the playoffs since the series against the Houston Rockets over a month ago with a calf injury. With the Golden State Warriors facing elimination in game 5 against the Toronto Raptors, Kevin decided to give it a go. Things were looking good as Kevin came out with a hot start and was playing lights out basketball. It didn’t look like he missed a beat!
Things were looking great until early in the first half when Kevin came down holding the back of his lower leg. He was carried off of the floor by teammates and taken back to the locker room where he wouldn’t return. Teammates and fans feared the worst, as it looked like he was holding his achilles after the injury.
An MRI was taken the next day and everyone’s worst fears were confirmed, Kevin Durant has torn his achilles and will be out the remainder of this season and more than likely miss all of next season. It’s never good to see a player go down, especially a superstar like Kevin Durant.
Without Kevin Durant, I’m not so sure that the Golden State Warriors will be able to hold off the Toronto Raptors and deny them their first championship. The Warriors are still extremely talented without Kevin, so it will be interesting to see. I can tell you one thing for sure, the Warriors and the rest of the league are going to miss Kevin Durant while he is gone.
Hoping for a speedy recovery!
